Client success story
Cloud Platform Optimization
Business Value: Reduce Spend While Enhancing Security of Cloud Platforms
Summary: Rationalize Management of and Spend on Cloud Compute and Storage
A mid-stage biopharmaceutical company was using Google Cloud Platform for managing their data processing and storage capabilities, but didn’t have a clear picture of their spending patterns and had identified potential security risks in their setup. bPrescient analyzed the current state of their cloud architecture, proposed recommendations, and implemented changes to reduce cloud costs and improve data security.
Challenge: Ad-hoc Groups’ Disparate Cloud Applications Exacerbate Security and Spend
The client had a variety of different cloud applications, both custom and 3rd party, that used Google cloud resources for compute pipelines and data storage but had limited visibility into what applications were using which resources. They also had an ad-hoc organization of roles and project groups that led to security concerns.
Solution: bPrescient Experts Unify Cloud Environment and Bolster Security Framework
bPrescient reviewed the current state of the client’s Google Cloud Platform environment, including current projects, VPC’s, compute pipelines, storage, databases, and VPNs. We worked with the client to develop an implementation plan to unify the cloud environment with enhanced security roles and project groupings. We implemented the changes using Google’s Cloud Ops and Security Command Center tools.
Outcome: Responsibilities Clarified, Spend Minimized, and Security Enhanced
The client attained an improved cloud environment that allowed them to track spend more accurately and trust that security risks were minimized. The changes set up the client for an organized future expansion of their cloud platform.
