Cloud-Based Image Analytics for Quality Control
Business Value: Minimize Manufacturing Costs by Maximizing QC Efficacy
Summary: Reducing Human Error in Visual Inspection
With pharmaceutical manufacturing operations there are numerous occasions where human visual inspection is used to ensure quality. Examples include visual inspection of devices as a manufacturing aid and visual inspection of agar plates for sterility assurance. bPrescient can automate this visual inspection by leveraging cloud-based image analytics.
Challenge: Ensure Quality While Optimizing Labor Utilization
Human visual inspection is an onerous and error-prone method of assuring quality. Typically, it requires at least duplicate inspection to avoid misses. This is costly and time-consuming, and not necessarily the most valuable use of highly trained technical resources. Deploying automated image analytics solutions on-premise is possible but is costly and requires on-going maintenance.
Solution: High Performance Compute Cloud Annotates Images and Summarizes Results
bPrescient builds real-time image data pipelines to transmit images to the cloud, leveraging high performance compute cloud capacity to execute optimized image analytics algorithms and return an annotated image and summary result back to the factory floor. The image analytics algorithms need to be trained and optimized to ensure the right level of accuracy and speed of execution. This can be deployed as a non-validated manufacturing aid to detect defects early in manufacturing or as one of two check steps, the other being a human check.
Outcome: Quality Control No Longer Subject to Human Error
These approaches reduce waste, enhance quality, and reduce costs across the manufacturing operation.
